Philip Berlin's L'exposé
54 pages of choreography
Challenge
Philip Berlin’s L’exposé was conceived as more than a performance. It formed part of a larger artistic research project, supported by Kulturbryggan, with a publication planned from the outset. Not as a program. Not as marketing. But as an independent artistic component.
The task was to design a physical publication that could function as a space for reflection rather than a catalogue. To hold multiple voices, theories, essays, and interviews without forcing them into a single narrative. And to give material form to an ongoing process.
The challenge was not to document a performance. It was to give research a body.
Solution
We developed L’exposé as a physical extension of the project itself.
Structured as an anthology, the publication allows theoretical reflection, essayistic writing and dialogue to coexist without hierarchy. The design provides clarity and rhythm but avoids visual closure.
With no existing identity to build on, the form grew out of the material itself. It was shaped to feel precise and focused, while remaining open. We prioritised typographic clarity, tactility and durability to reinforce the publications ability to last.
The result is not documentation after the fact. It is a parallel work where choreography continues on the page.
